For the past season I have been off road testing the Berwick women’s boot from Ariat . As a wedding and family photographer on the beautiful Isle of Skye, I specialise in photographing outdoors in our amazing landscapes. This means trampling over moors and up mountains, clambering on and off boats, and wading into the sea to get just the right shoot. Ending the day thigh deep in mud, with soaked straggly hair and panda mascara eyes is just one of the many pleasures of my job! My clients range from adored pets on family photo shoots to international visitors for whom Skye is their must have wedding elopement destination.
How to stay dry and comfortable while also smart enough for the occasion is a perennial conundrum. I have worn these waterproof boots to photograph weddings at the stunning Loch Coruisk an area of the Cuillin accessible by boat and a very muddy hike, wading through the beautiful Fairy pools and on countless days out with my two dogs as we tramp around our village and explore the beaches of Skye, and this last week on a photo shoot at Skye’ s Quiriaing and Staffin beach where I was captured in action by visiting photographer friend Penny. Also an Ariat fan she was keen to test out the new Berwick boots range and there were frequent urgings of “just a little further into the waves!” (she was so impressed she just took delivery of her pair of Berwick boots!).
The Berwick has met every challenge superbly. My feet have stayed dry and warm (even when wading ankle deep in the sea and jumping off boats) and very importantly I have felt smart and feminine with boots that perform their role and are equally at home with skinny jeans or a smarter dress. And never once have I shared an image on social media or stepped out in my boots without someone demanding to know where they can buy a pair!
You can see some of the environments I work in and so far despite sand, dog drool, endless mud and fording a river up to my knees in water earlier this week my boots still look and perform as impeccably as the day I first put them on!
