Born from the desire to work from home and to share the beauty of the village of Heaste and the Isle of Skye with visitors, Janet and Cecil Ward have recently set up the utterly gorgeous Skye Shepherd Huts. 2 beautifully crafted shepherds huts by Black Mountain Huts have been gently placed on their croft (small holding). The goings on installing the huts and landscaping the grounds and firepit area have greatly entertained the wonderful Gilbert and George, 2 rescue donkeys, who live on the croft in a beautiful boutique stable!
I visited one crisp, frosty morning, along with Kate my little assistant for the day and we were utterly captivated by the Huts. Cosy, quiet, bijou and intimate the huts are make you to feel instantly at one with nature. We could easily imagine setting up home in one of the huts for a few days, toasting marshmallows around the fire pit and waking to mountain and sea loch views. It wasn’t long before Kate was cuddling the resident dogs, cats and donkeys while I had my boots off warming my toes in front of the exquisite little wood burning stove.
Located in the rugged natural beauty of the Isle of Skye, off the west coast of Scotland, with easy access to some of the most stunning costal and mountain scenery in Europe the huts will provide a wonderful experience for families, walkers and climbers. The huts would also be perfect for a romantic break for two. Aah, nostalgia!
Skye Shepherd Huts opens on 1 April 2013. The Huts cost from as little as £70 per night. To book call Janet on 07580559745 or email janet@tlachd.com
