Where can you find a cowboy wearing a superhero cape and spending an afternoon outdoors? Hebden Bridge that’s where. This is a super cute shoot featuring the cool dude that is Otis.
This week our featured photographer is the lovely Sarah Mason of Sarah Mason Photography. She is fine art portrait photographers based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.
Sarah, can you please tell us a bit about your business and your inspirations?
I am a professional portrait photographer and set up my business in 2009 after working in TV and film in London. I have been taking pictures since I was small and was inspired by my Grandad. We used to go out together for walks in the Dales, taking photographs. I really cherish the photographs that Grandad took of me and my sister growing up, something that is really important to me as a photographer. I am a Nikon user and love my prime lenses. Suzi joined the business in 2013 – not only is she a great photographer, she also has a fantastic eye for design and creates all our display products for clients. Our family portraits are our passion, they make our hearts sing! WIDE SMILES, wind tangled hair, muddy fingers, sandy toes – we love to capture the essence of childhood, those beautiful connections, those moments you share as a family. We are both very inspired by nature and love being outdoors in the woods, on the moors, by the water. There is always something new to observe and photograph in the changing seasons.
Can you tell us about this shoot?
This shoot is all about the very fab Otis and his gorgeous little sister Willow. It’s a shoot we did back in August in the woods in Hebden Bridge. We held a competition earlier this year to win a portrait shoot. His Mum entered on his behalf and described how Otis enjoyed being part explorer, part super hero so we created little chapters in the shoot to reflect this. The shoot began with a little voice squealing from the top of the path ‘Oh wow, is this all for me?!’. Otis raced down and immediately sat in his little tipi we’d built for him. The shoot was so much fun – we all had a great time As we were packing up after the shoot Otis asked ‘Are you coming back to my house for sandwiches?’ This little chap could melt anyone’s heart, and we all shed a happy tear in the viewing…. Otis, Willow and their Mum and Dad are moving to the States next year, so the shoot was extra special to them as it has captured a little slice of their time here in Yorkshire.
Thank you to Sarah and, of course, to the gorgeous creature that we know as love as Otis. If you’d like to contact Sarah just click the links below and tell her that TMK sent you.
