UPDATE NOVEMBER 2017. We still get many hits on this blog post, it was clearly a popular collection! The company has now rebranded as Palava, All links in this post have been amended.
Poppy, the little British girl whose adventures are depicted on a hem of a dress, takes a trip to London for British designer Bryony Richardson’s latest collection.
After 2012 and the Olympics and Queen’s Jubilee, Poppy and her trusty doggy friend, Fred, want to know what all the fuss is about so they head down to London. They take in all the main sights Big Ben, the London Eye, Tower Bridge and Routemaster buses that all make an appearance on this charming new London fabric.
“They try out many ways to get around the city from using a penny farthing to a taxi to the underground. Until Poppy and Fred decide that there is no other way to travel around London than on a giraffe,” explains Bryony. “But the giraffe gets tired after walking around the city all day, so they decide to take the giraffe home on a bus!”
With all Poppy clothes, each item comes with a storybook telling the story of Poppy’s latest exploits. Bryony’s hand drawn-quirky illustrations, which give nostalgic innocence a contemporary twist, are Poppy’s trademark, along with the quality cotton twill, which is printed in Leicester. The London range is all manufactured here in the UK.
The range of clothes for babies and girls up to 7 years of age has also been expanded to include a gorgeous range for women. (Yeay!!! At last. If you are anything like me you will often find yourself hankering after the playfulness and gorgeous colours of children’s clothes but in adult sizes!)
Poppy also has a range of accessories such as petticoats, berets, bags, colouring books, greetings cards, invitations and mugs. Aimed at creating a wonderful world of innocent fun, the brand takes children on a magical journey of play and adventure, drawing inspiration from the bygone eras and authors that influenced their designer when she was growing up.
The new collection is available online at Palava, in John Lewis (online and in selected stores) Peter Jones in Sloane Square and across a wide range of independent boutiques across the UK, Europe, Middle and Far East and North America.
We are totally over the shiny moon to have Poppy with us as a sponsor – they represent everything we love here at TMK HQ and all that remains to be said is, Poppy you are awesome!
