Before we had children, my husband and I travelled the world: We backpacked across South America, Australasia and South East Asia. We dived with manta rays and climbed volcanos. My husband proposed to me on a snowy mountain in Austria and we trekked with elephants on our honeymoon. There is no denying we both are adventure junkies.
As the children have grown, we have instilled in them that adventure is what makes life fun. Just because they’re little doesn’t mean we don’t travel. With the children we have:
Spotted whales off Boston, MA
Enjoyed sunsets in Manhattan
Been barefoot on the long stretches of sand in Norfolk
Snorkelled and swum in the turquoise seas of Greece
Eaten the finest chocolate in Bruges
Danced under the stars at a festival
And camped in a field and toasted marshmallows on an open fire
But our favourite holiday? Skiing, every time.
The clear, mountain air and the wind in our hair, we’ve whoosed down those slopes. It’s a holiday we all love and can enjoy together. The happy times we’ve laughed on the chairlifts before we tackle the next run. The sunny lunches, poring over our ski map to plan a route. The beaming faces of the kids as they master parallel turns. We have found adventure, family time and fun all rolled into one holiday.
No one can deny just how picturesque an alpine resort is. We are completely addicted to our holidays in the snow. We’d love to go with Mark Warner, and meet more families who love it just as much with us, let the kids make more friends to go off to ski school with, and Mum and Dad enjoy that time as a couple over dinner and on the slopes as well.
The only problem is, the kids are increasingly becoming better than us …!
This post is our entry to the Mark Warner Holidays #markwarnermum competition to be an Ambassador for 2016 in the adventure junkie category. Read more about Mark Warner and their great holidays.
