So I guess you might be wondering how I came to be sitting here writing my first piece for our new blog? I’ve been asking myself that question a lot recently. Getting to this point has been a mixture of the terror you feel when you are sitting your first real exam and the joy of holding my first born all rolled into one. You see, for me life has always been about having fun and finding joy wherever you are, whatever that moment, whoever you are with. Who knows, one day I might actually be able to answer the question “what do you want to be when you’re a grown-up”? it’s just not something I’m quite ready to do yet.
Sometime back in April 2013 on a particularly grey day, a conversation with a dear friend opened up the possibility of doing something new – a challenge – a risk – a step on an adventure. I was hooked. From that call, things have developed into a wonderful collaboration with four other talented creatives who make up Truly Madly Kids (TMK) – the founding mothers if you will.
And so to my story, hello! I’m Natasha, a mother to three beautiful girls and now a grandmother to a gorgeous little boy called Kai. I’m based in Singapore having relocated from the UK in 2014 and have my own photography business . I adore travel, food, meeting new people and sharing stories with those I meet along the way. I trained as a photojournalist in the pre-digital age and one day hope to get a darkroom again when I can dust down my chemical mixing skills and renew my love of film. I’ve been taking photographs for almost 20 years now and still feel those exciting butterflies every time I pick up my camera.
I love vintage wallpaper prints, fizzy cola bottles, hot baths and the ocean. My idea of a perfect Sunday is waking up to a large mug of tea, reading the papers in my pj’s and comfy slippers, going out to the forest for a walk with the family and coming home for a roast and possibly another episode of Miranda on i-player. I also have a slight addition to Pinterest (1,500 pins and counting!) which I’m seeking help for, though there is actually no known cure!
I really hope you’ve love hanging out here and finding interesting and new adventures with every visit.
Remember, adventure is out there!
