Maternity Shoot by Jo Withers

As you know we are all creative types here at Truly Madly Kids and as such we have many friends in the photography business. Every couple of weeks we’re going to feature a photographer from somewhere around our fabulous nation so that you, our fabulous readers, have the chance to hire a photographer located near you, to help you capture your family memories. We’re even going to feature ourselves – you lucky things!

This week I’d like to introduce Jo Withers and a maternity shoot that she did last summer, I asked her to tell me a little about her business and this was her response:

I live in Leicester but love to travel around the UK to be inspired by new locations. I have a studio and also work a lot on location and have enjoyed building the business since 2007. I love to capture family portraits and weddings, as memories are what drives my passion for photography. Here in Leicestershire I am fortunate to be surrounded by a lot of artists, so much of my commercial work tends to be capturing creative, bespoke art for promotional use. I went through a rebrand at the end of last year with your very own Melissa Love and the comments I’ve had since the launch at the beginning of this year has been amazing. I love my new brand and get to capture the images that inspire me, as my clients are drawn in from the same personality and style. I am a believer in capturing so much that happens in your life, so when Ashleigh got in touch about her pregnancy photoshoot, I was thrilled. These times in your life don’t happen that often, so to capture them to show your family when they grow up is wonderful. Ashleigh’s personal styling and our selection of locations worked really well and combined with choosing to hold the photoshoot much later in the afternoon to have that golden summer glow of light, was the right decision. Ashleigh now has a little girl and as busy as she is being a new mum, she kindly gave me her opinion on having a maternity photoshoot.

How was the photoshoot and how did it feel to see the resulting images? The photoshoot was so relaxing, considering it was one of the hottest days of the year in Leicester. I loved the idea that it was urban, fun, with a bit of garden and so Castle Gardens in Leicester was the perfect location for the shoot. Seeing the final photos was fantastic and I couldn’t wait to be able to share them all with my friends and family. Jo managed to capture everything that I wanted to express in my pictures.

How many weeks were you at the shoot? I was about 35 weeks pregnant at the time of the shoot.
