Meet Linda, she’s a designer and now the owner of a fabulous UK based wallpaper and accessories company called Identity Papers. With wonderfully quirky and magical designs she is building a following for her work and having been to her home to see the designs she is working on it’s not hard to see why. I have office envy too – her gorgeous office has the most wonderful books, papers, art and the most comfortable looking armchair. But I digress.
Wallpaper has come a long way from the off white wood chip days and we are all becoming more educated as consumers to the lifestyle magazines, showcasing styled rooms, changing colour themes and setting trends for each season. There are now a vast array of designs, colours, textures to select and sometimes you can feel as though you are in danger of becoming a bit Stepford Wives in your choice of decor. We are all a lot more design focussed when it comes to our living space and are a little spoilt in the options open to us, unlike my parents generation. Most of my friends regularly buy home magazines with styling tips on the latest trends and colours so finding something individual is sometimes a bit of a nightmare. This is where Linda’s expertise comes into it’s own as she is available for private commissions and can work with you to create a unique paper just for you.
Linda has a background in art and printmaking and her passion for colours and patterns is evident all around her home. It has taken her a lot of time and research to source a UK based printer who could work with her to translate her designs to wallpaper – not an easy thing to do. She did have the option to outsource further afield but feels it’s important to her to keep it a British designed and produced product.
She is inspired by many things including travel, books, art and they all collide and find their way into her design work. Alongside her wallpaper she also produces boxes using different papers. Here are some shots we took together at her home. Below are some shots of her Custom Word Search Wallpaper in grey. Linda has several Ready Wallpapers with text designs, including Quick Brown Fox and Sugar & Slugs, shown in raspberry, but can also make a personalised design for a client using their choice of text in a choice of formats. All Identity Papers feature text or photography.
We had lots of fun using various props and shooting around the house. Here are some more in pink and my personal favourite, Mi Casa Su Casa, which literally means my house is your house and adorns one of the walls in her son’s bedroom.
Remember, adventure is out there!
