Hammam, thank you mam. Win a trip to Dubai #dxbdreams!

I think I speak for a lot of you when I say that we all lead hectic lives. Hectic, amazing lives. Hectic, amazing, time consuming lives that sometimes give cause to me taking time out to daydream. Admittedly, I’m not always aware that I’m daydreaming but you can bet your bottom dollar that once I’ve jolted back to reality I will have tales of far away shores, sunshine on my face and sand between my toes. One day I might actually get there and leave the baked bean stained school uniforms behind. At least for a few days anyway. Now there’s a way. @tots100 and @visitdubai_uk  are offering one super lucky blogger the chance to take the family, during the summer, to Dubai! To enter I have to do this, blog! To read all about the wonderful offerings that this city has to offer  and then tell you which our favourite activities would be, follow the competition on twitter with #dxbdreams

I am very conscious that I live in a beautiful country, and close enough to have other, amazing countries practically on our doorsteps. They are familiar and comfortable and wonderful. Dubai though, offers something that they can’t, the unknown. To experience the Arabian culture first hand, to teach and show my children distant shores, to look at the stars from the desert, to eat new foods, to learn a new language, to sample new spices, these things fill me with joy.

It’s all about me.

A lifelong dream of mine has been to visit a Hammam. The meaning of the word is ‘spreader of warmth’ and I can only imagine how glorious it would feel. It’s certainly not for the self conscious, if you can leave your inhibitions at the door and savour the experience of being steamed, exfoliated, massaged and pampered, then I think you will reap the rewards both physically (super smooth skin) and emotionally (not thinking about chocolate for once) Once you’ve decided to add this to your bucket list, the hardest part will be choosing which one to go to! It’s all about us.

Romance isn’t dead and my other half and I are still at the stage where we still actually make an effort (note to self – long may it continue) Sometimes it’s the simple things in life which are the best and not much could beat being in the desert, looking up at the stars and sharing a moment. Not much could beat that at all but throw in an Arabian fort, a dazzling falconry display, camel caravans, horse shows, some Tanoura dancing and topped off with live cooking stations, wood fired ovens, spit roasts and just general desert oasis magic, then I think you have the stuff memories are made of. All of this, and more, can happen at Al Hadheerah resort.Al Hadheerah Resort

It’s all about them.

The inquisitive, constantly evolving little humans that I had a hand in creating are desperate for knowledge wherever they go. It’s my absolute pleasure in life to introduce them to new places, new experiences, new sounds, new tastes. To see the wonder and awe on their faces as these things happen is a feeling all parents know all too well. I’d love to introduce them to the hustle and bustle of a Souk. Firstly we’d visit the spice souk, followed by the perfume souk and finished with a visit to the gold souk. I guess it’ll be sensory overload as our brains dealt with the sights and sounds of these amazing markets but an evening in a comfortable bed, in a 5* hotel with combat weary bodies will certainly make it worthwhile. Find the souk for you.Souk Dubai, dubai #dxbdreams

I’m not ashamed to say that I blatantly want to win this, once in a lifetime, trip. Travel warms my soul and thoroughly confirms my ‘life is for living’ mantra. And guess what?
