Bikini body at the ready!

Let me say right away that a bikini body is your body – pop a bikini on it, have fun in the water and on holiday – and that’s a bikini body. I’ll also be honest and say that I’m not super confident in a bikini – Megan wrote a great post about wearing her bikini  recently – but I’m afraid that I still spent my summer in my all in one swimsuit. Actually, I feel more confident naked than in a bikini – there’s something about the way they can cut into one’s body unflatteringly  that puts me off wearing one on the beach. Clearly, I have not been wearing a good bikini with the correct cut! You may have seen on Instagram that Megan and I have been enjoying some winter sunshine (just in time to get home and enjoy the Beast from the East!) and I headed to the Algarve with my wee family to enjoy the empty beaches and 20 degree temperatures and glorious blue skies that make up this corner of Portugal in winter. I was sent a bikini by Hunkemoller just before I left and I couldn’t wait to try it out. Trying it on I found the joy of a supportive and wired bikini top that was true to size. The pool at our villa looked marvellously inviting and I was all ready to dive in – luckily I let Kate my 9 year old jump in first! She quickly told me as she surfaced that “IT’S FREEZING” – we checked the temperature board at the pool – ah ! 12 degrees.

Luckily we had a fantastic hot-tub to jump into instead, overlooking the Vale da Pinta golf course – here’s a little clip of Kate and I  giggling amidst the bubbles while I happily sport my bikini!

I styled the bikini with some other pieces from the Hunkemoller range. The lace tie cover up and lace shorts were really easy wearing pieces that worked for poolside or lunch in one of the lovely village restaurants that line the coast. Hat and sunglasses my own essentials!
