Last Thursday, my children and I were treated to a night to preview the beautiful remodelled Oxford St Mothercare store on behalf of Truly Madly Kids. From the moment we stepped through the door, we knew we were in for a treat: The waiting staff had glasses of bubbles for Mummy and Happy Monkey smoothies for the kids on the tray. The children were immediately given goodie bags with pom bears, jammie dodgers and other lovely treats. We were directed downstairs to a fabulous face painter and kids entertainer, who performed wonderful magic tricks and kept all the children entertained until Father Christmas arrived! He read a story to them jovially and then gave the children a chance to come up and whisper their Christmas wish to him.
Whilst the children enjoyed themselves, I got a chance to listen to the Mothercare ambassador, Myleene Klass, who talked to us about her eleventh season of her clothing range, baby K. Baby K is definitely for the cool kids on the block: no soft, traditional pastels here, Myleene goes bold with many of the items baring leopard print, lace and sparkly studs. The girlswear is daring with its colours, but it also remains very girly, with lovely frilly tutus and added sparkle. Myleene seems to have been able to indudge her style in these pieces and the style reflects the fun she must have had.
My daughter’s favourite pieces were a sparkly electric-blue jumper and the leopard print earmuffs!
The boys wear is equally cool with checks, braces and waistcoats all jazzing up the collection. I particularly like the departure from ‘traditional’ boys’ colours with splashes of red, orange and electric blue all appearing.
Mothercare’s brand is reliable: You always know you are going to get good service, good quality products that are also fit for purpose. The new Oxford Street definitely showcases these values with the wide array of fashion collections but also a Clarks shoe concession on the ground floor to make life easier for the parent and child shopping. Downstairs, is home to many innovative brands including bugaboo and Silver Cross. This shop is definitely a one-stop shop for all parents and expectant parents.
